Get Real Saturday 8th November 10:30am - 5:00pm

Get Real is an event aimed at girls from across the South West, aged 12-18. Our Children, Youth and Families Pastor, Maria, founded Get Real and has run it for a number of years, with the aim of enriching the lives of young girls at this key life stage for them.

The day includes seminars, craft and activities all led by experienced professionals from across the Bay. The theme of this years Get Real is ‘You are enough’ and Glenda Chadwick- Down from SWBA (South West Baptist Association) will be the main speaker.

The event is taking place in Brixham Baptist Church. This is always a really inspiring event and a great opportunity for young people and church leaders across the South West to gather.

There is no fixed cost but rather the option of a £5 donation on the day. This donation can be paid by cash or card.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

When and Where

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving a bit early to get a parking spot in the public car park that is behind the church, to the rear of the main bus stop. Sadly we are a town centre church and without onsite parking. When you arrive, you will be greeted by our Welcome Team.

Accessibility:

There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets at the rear of the church and also in the Front Room café.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members and a relaxed and informal style and usually lasts about 75 minutes. In the service there is sung worship, prayers, sharing of testimonies and stories together and bible-based teaching to encourage us to apply our faith to our everyday life. We usually finish with the children and youth joining us and sharing what they have been doing that morning. There is always an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service or ask questions. We serve drinks and biscuits after the service ends. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

And if you are not yet a believer, or have questions about the Christian faith, then you will be welcome too as we feel everyone is on a journey which is best travelled together.

What about children and youth?

We have a great programme lined up for children and youth, called Shine! Shine is a central part of our Children, Youth and Families Team activity. It's a great way for families to start Sundays! All children and young people are welcome, and parents and carers can stay as well (in fact you are encouraged to!) A Welcome Team member will be very happy to direct you to the leaders relevant to the age(s) in question.
