The people of Brixham are being encouraged to consider going back to church, though it may be to a very different church than they left! BrixhamBaptistChurch has just completed a major refurbishment of its 210 year old building, bringing it bang into the 21st century in the hope of attracting back a more contemporary generation.

Phil Marsden, minister of the Church, says he has been saddened by church decline in recent years in more ways than one. “To see numbers dropping, buildings decaying and Christian values and morals declining across our nation is upsetting enough, but to sit back and do nothing about it would be a travesty”. He believes the Church should be at the heart of the community and says the Baptist church's prime position, right in the centre of town, gives it the perfect opportunity to be so.

“We already run a wide variety of activities and events for the people of Brixham including the recently launched ‘Island Club’ which now attracts around 200 youth and children each week!” “But we really want to do more and are looking for new people to join us, to find out what we’re about, see how church has changed and perhaps discover how God can help them and they can help God!”

‘First Sunday’ is being held at BrixhamBaptistChurch,

Market Street
on the First Sunday of the month at and Phil says he’d love it if the church was packed out that Sunday. “Whether they come out of curiosity to see the refurbished church or just come to find out more about what the church is like nowadays we don’t mind” he said. “Just give us a try…I’m sure you won’t be disappointed”.
